So, right now I have a sink and counter full of dishes waiting for me to wash. I'm one of those that is really behind the times, and doesn't have a dishwasher. Actually, besides a couple of years at BYU, I have never had a dishwasher! Crazy, I know. But, this morning I was thinking of things, and realized that approximately 50 years ago, I'm sure almost no one had a dishwasher. It's crazy how things that we take for granted now didn't exist not too long ago. There is a quote I heard from Mary Ellen Edmunds last year at Education Week. It goes "Little luxury, don't you cry, you'll be a necessity by and by." That is so true! High Speed Internet, dishwashers, and cell phones were luxuries once upon a time, now they seem like necessities to everyone (myself included). Our power has been going out quite a bit lately, and when the power goes out, we don't have any water. It is really annoying not to be able to do laundry, put on a movie for Lindsay, turn on the lights, or anything. Our world is really dependent on power/water. I'm going to try and do better and be grateful for what I do have. So, I'm going to go do my dishes and be grateful for the automatically hot, running water!

I'm right there with you, Rhonda! I long for the day that I no longer have a manual dishwasher (and my name is no longer MANUEL). I love paper plates, though. They are my favorite thing about dishes!
Yeah it sure is true we do take things for granted and sure think that we are behind in the "times" if we don't have what someone else has!! Pretty sad huh!!!
Hey Rhonda - I just tagged you. Check out my blog for the details!
