Food Storage

We went grocery shopping last night (Exciting, I know), and got a great deal on chicken. They had boneless, skinless chicken breasts for $1.19 a pound. So, we got 40 pounds for $47.60. The regular price was about $140! It was a ton of chicken, and I'm guessing it'll last us through the winter. When (notice when, not if :-) Josh gets his elk, we'll be set. I'm not a huge fan of elk meat, but I'll definitely eat it if I have to. It feels good to be prepared. We also went to the cannery last month and got started on wheat, and milk, and got some potatoes and carrots. We probably have close to a 3 months storage. I'm trying to write down what we eat each week and make sure we have our storage. I want to be prepared for anything...like that scripture says, If ye are prepared, ye shall not fear.

Good luck on the meat. That is a fabulous deal on chicken. I recommend getting the HUGE bag of krusteez pancake mix from Sam's for $6. Put it in your freezer and it will last forever. If your stuck in a situation where you can't bake anything, you can fry up pancakes on a camp stove (or camp fire) and use it as bread.
